The serial number on the envelope is identical to the serial number on the Glock case's exterior red sticker. In sum, the handgun itself has one serial number (same number on slide, barrel, and most significantly, the frame). Removing Certain Glock Serial Numbers., adding machine, comptometer, bicycle, firearm, safe, vacuum cleaner, dictaphone, watch, watch movement, watch case, or any other mechanical. Not saying you would be convicted but arguing with the PO PO on the street that the scratched serial number doesn't fall under a similar criminal statute. Glock Model 41L Pistol 45 ACP Description: Serial #ZBD017,.45 ACP, 5 1/4' barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is the long-barreled, 4th generation target pistol that has practically no wear present on the slide or barrel. I happen to be completely new to glock and so was reviewing all the info that glock provides for a new gun owner. I read that if you email glock with your serial number and ask for your pistol's born on date, they will tell you. And its true, I got a response super fast from customer service about my pistol's particulars.
I was curious what some more established members here have for a born on date.
My glock is a Gen 3 17.
I bought it mid Feb 2014 in Los Angeles, CA.
Its born on date was Dec 5th 2013 in Austria.
Considering, create time, QA time, and travel time, it spent a month or less on the shelf which seems pretty short.
So what do other people have as a born on date?
Here is a breakdown of the product/SKU numbers found in the upper right corner of the case label. These only appear on pistol cases seen in the U.S., regardless of where they were manufactured. Label formats are different outside the U.S. There are plenty of deviations from this list from Glock, which should be no big surprise. I’ve documented nearly 500 different SKUs just since Glock went to this format with the Gen 3 guns. Note that this is constantly evolving, and I’ve even seen some new info pop up just since the 43X and 48 were announced. If you have a label that has characters other than what is listed here, let me know. I’d love to see a case label and info so I can investigate.
In the sections below, I break down the various characters, using the example SKU of PI2350202T. The bold items are the ones that are most common.
Prefix 1 – PI2350202T

This is just the numbers in the model of the pistol. A Glock 17 would be ’17’, as would a 17C, 17TB, 17R, 17P, 17T, 17L, etc. Known anomalies to this logic are:
